Little is known so far about the Galaxy Gear smartwatch (SM-V700), but according to Bloomberg’s sources, the Galaxy Gear won’t have the long-rumored flexible display. Don’t let that get you down though as the smartwatch will still have some cool capabilities. The Galaxy Gear is rumored to make phone calls, check emails, and allow you to surf the internet. It’s also designed to work with Samsung’s Galaxy brand of smartphones, so you can expect the devices to work well with one another.
Another rumor broke today on the device’s specs through an anonymous tipster to SamMobile, the site that originally broke the news of the Galaxy Gear’s upcoming release. The Galaxy Gear is rumored to rock a Samsung Exynos 4212 dual-core processor at 1.5GHz while its GPU will be an ARM Mail-400 MP4. Throw in 1GB of RAM, a 2MP camera, Bluetooth, and NFC and you’ve got yourself an extremely smart watch. As for the display, it’s tipped to be a 320×320 AMOLED screen. As mentioned, these are ‘rumors’ and nothing’s been confirmed on the specs.
We’ll find out what the Galaxy Gear will and won’t do in a few weeks when Samsung unveils the device to the world. It’s all just speculation right now, but you can expect it to sell like hotcakes once it finally hits retail shelves. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
