Electronic Arts Tetris Blitz finally makes its Way to Google Play

by On May 24, 2013

tetris.blitz-androidAndroid gamers in certain parts of the world have been enjoying Tetris Blitz for a while, and today EA finallytetris.blitz gave the game a wide release. It resembles the Tetris game we all know and love, but with a modern twist that speeds things up quite a bit. Tetris has been around for ages, and it’s still one of the best puzzle games you’ll play, and EA decided to update the classic by speeding things and throwing in power-ups just like they did in Bejeweled Blitz. If you’ve played BB, you already know what’s up. Tetris Blitz gives you two-minutes to rack up as many points as you can and throws in some fun power-ups to boot. You can use a magnets and lasers to boost your score, and more power-ups are supposed to be added every week. Tetris Blitz has been modernized, so there are in-app purchases and more social features than you can shake a stick Screenshot_2013-05-24-15-04-34at. Electronic Arts has been known to destroy games in these areas, but they’ve done a great job with Tetris Blitz. The IAP’s are there, but not excessive and you don’t need them to enjoy the game. You’ll want to link your Facebook account to enjoy the leaderboards and a few other features, but you can play without using it if you prefer. I’m an old school Tetris fan, but have still had a blast with Tetris Blitz despite a few changes. The two-minute timer does change the game, and the leaderboards along with the power-ups are a nice touch. It’s not as hardcore as the original, but it’s a fun way to kill some time while you’re on the go. You can pick up Electronic Art’s Tetris Blitz for free on Google Play.
