Featuring the new Explore Tab, Leaderboard, User details page and more Specials, Foursquare has once again upped the ante when it comes to location-based mobile services. Quickly, let’s take a look at the four new, important features that Foursquare has brought to the tablet. First, is the updated Explore tab which Foursquare will help Foursquare achieve what it has been trying to achieve for years now – and that is to become a full-featured recommendation site for the real world by using the check-ins and tips dropped by its users on places they visited. So with the new “Explore” tab you’ll find suggestions based on the places users have been, places your friends have visited, your loyalty to your favorite places, the categories and types of places you gravitate towards and what’s popular with other Foursquare users. The Explore tab ¬†will also suggest reasons why you should visit a particular place. Suggestions are categorized in Food, Coffee, Nightlife and A&E. Another major update of the Foursquare app has something to do with the Leaderboard. This feature now features a sliding 7-day barometer of you and your friends. In addition, check-ins also now starts various actions including – discovering new places, trying new types of restaurants, visiting new offices, getting groups together and more. And finally for business establishments who have made their presence in Foursquare will now have six new Specials to give out to their loyal patrons. They will soon be able to offer Specials to swarms, groups of friends, regulars, newbies, Mayors and practically every users who chance upon these Specials while using Foursquare Android app. If you don’t want to wait for those Specials to appear, you can easily check them via the Places tab from the main menu of the app. So there.
