Glu Mobile’s Toy Village out now for Android

by On November 10, 2011

Overview

Another week, another city building game, but this one involves Toys! Glu Mobile dropped a game called Toy Village into the market this morning, and by the name alone I knew I had to check it out. When I fired up the game what I found was a very polished, colorful game that looks like it came straight out of a Disney flick.

A terrible tornado struck the tiny Toy Village, and scattered the toys while destroying their homes. Your job is to help Patch build a new village so the toys can find their way back home and you’ll be given plenty of things to build. As with most building games you’ll build things, collect money, harvest resources, and then build some more. Toy Village is also “time-based” whereas building things in the game take a certain amount of real world time, but can be sped up by using Glu Credits. There are a lot of different things to build as well with burger shacks, farms, trees, and spas. I did a quick count and there were well over 50 items that can be built; this means you’ll be playing Toy Village for awhile which is never a bad thing.

The Lowdown…

I haven’t gotten to spend much time with the game, but I do like what I see so far. The graphics & animations are all well done, and the whole game has a very vibrant, colorful feel. The usual in-app purchasing system is there with the Glu Credits, but I haven’t noticed a single ad yet which is great. If you’re a fan of building games (most of us are) you’ll definitely want to check out Toy Village. A full review is forthcoming; in the meantime you can head on over to the market and check out Toy Village for free.
