A few weeks ago we took a look at a quirky little Android app called Brick Buddies from Flarb. Now we’re going to take a look at game of sorts from the group involving Birds. Camera Birds doesn’t let you fling birds around, but you will get to shoot them… with your camera.
Camera Birds is a virtual Bird Watching game that lets you use your phone or tablet to hunt for birds. You won’t have to wear your legs out walking around the forest snapping pictures either as Camera Birds uses your devices inner gyro & compass to make the game go. Basically you can stand anywhere you like and as you move your phone around you’ll see a virtual forest on your phone’s screen. The goal of the game is to find birds to snap pictures of and collect any feathers you find laying on the ground. The feathers can be used in the shop to buy a few different upgrades, and there are 2 different areas to look for birds in. Camera Birds also has an “Augmented Reality” mode that lets you view your captured 3D birds in the real world.
Camera Birds is a very cool concept, and overall the game works well from what I’ve been able to test. I have fooled around with game several times and have only been able to find one bird so far. There’s not much info out there on this one so I’m not sure if I just suck at Bird Watching or maybe there aren’t enough birds in the game. Camera Birds could definitely use some tweaking here and there, but it’s an interesting and worth a look if you want to try something a little different.
