Go for the Gold with these 5 Olympic Android Games

by On July 27, 2012

The 2012 London Olympics finally open this evening and with that in mind we thought it was time for an Olympic themed list. If you dig Android games this one’s for you as we proudly present you with our Top 5 Olympic Android Games…

1. Toons Summer Games 2012

Toons Summer Games 2012 takes the top spot on our list for several different reasons. You get 10 different events to choose from that run the gambit from swimming and ping pong to the hammer throw. You get several different modes of play, and you’re also playing as animals. Yup, you get to hammer toss as a Koala, and pole vault with a high flying sheet. This is probably the closest thing I’ll ever see to a Animalympics video game, and it’s pretty damned cool. No free version of Toons Summer Games 2012 is available at this time, but the full version is well worth the $0.99 price tag.

2. Realistic Summer Sports

If you like your Summer Games with a dash of quirkiness and a large degree of difficulty then Realistic Summer Sports is the game for you. This funky little game lets you take on some crazy events like Kayak Slalom and Race Walking along with other classics like the rings, cycling, and archery. It’s retro, it’s physics-based, and it’s tricky to figure out but a lot of fun once you get the controls down pat. You can snag Captain Games Realistic Summer Sports for $1.99 on Google Play.

3. Stickman Games: Summer Edition

If you’re a fan of stickman style games you’ll definitely get a kick out of Stickman Games: Summer Edition for Android. This Android game lets you take on 12 Olympic events as well as 100 different challenges. You can customize your Olympian, keep track of your highscores with Openfeint, and it’s a whole lotta’ fun. There are paid and free versions of Stickman Games: Summer Edition available and you can pick up either of them on Google Play.

4. Summer Games 3D

Summer Games 3D is the best looking game on our list and Tangram3D did a great job of putting a polished product out there. As slick as this game looks its main feature are the events, and there’s a whole lotta’ them. You get 20 events including the hammer toss, long jump, high jump, rowing, swimming, hurdles and a dozen more. Summer Games 3D comes with a lite and paid version both of which can be downloaded from Google Play.

5. Superstar Athlete

365 Games dropped a nice little Retro style Olympic game last week with Superstar Athlete. This one gives you 5 different events to choose from and has a great sense of style to boot. You can set world records with your 16-bit athlete, and while there’s no free version available to try you can pick up the free version for $1.08.
