Earlier this morning, Google created quite the buzz in the technology and business sectors, as the Search giant announced their acquisition of big-time Android manufacturer and long-time cellular manufacturer — Motorola Mobility. For the large sum of $12.5 billion, Google has acquired Motorola Mobility, a company whom they believe will play an integral role in “supercharging the entire Android ecosystem.”  The rationale behind the purchase allows for “accelerated innovation” in the technology field and allows Google to work even closer with a top-notch Android manufacturer for years to come. Google also made it a point to reiterate the fact that Android will remain Open Source and other manufacturers and developers will have as much as support from Google as Motorola currently has.  Essentially, Google isn’t here to play favorites but to enhance innovation and provide stronger competition with its competitors.
