StarFront: Collision for Android – The Review

by On April 30, 2011

Overview

StarFront: Collision is a killer new RTS game from Gameloft. If you’re a fan of the old game Starcraft, you are going to REALLY love this game. You play a group named “The Consortium” whose job is to mine a rare mineral from a planet called Sinistral. The problem is this planet is also inhabited by an alien species called The Myriad, who want to stop you from getting the Xenodium minerals. You’ll also have to deal with a pretty cool looking race of robots known as The Wardens. Now that you know what’s going on with the storyline, lets get to the good stuff…

Gameplay

There are two main game modes; Single Player and Multiplayer. In the Single Player mode you’ll be able to select from Campaign or Skirmish. The Campaign mode is the heart of the game, and you’ll start playing the storyline as the Consortium. You have to work your way through 8 of their levels, then five for the Myriad, and four for the Wardens. There are 17 levels in the Campaigns, which guarantee that you will keep playing this for awhile. Skirmish mode has 7 different maps, and lets you select you skill level, as well as your race. With the Multiplayer mode you can go local (device-to-device) or online. Starfront Collision uses Gameloft Live! 2.0, and lets you battle with up to four other players.

Verdict

Personally, I loved this game. Some people have complained about the screen being crowded, and the HUD. I ran it on a Samsung Galaxy S, and it honestly didn’t bother me at all. The graphics were awesome, and the music & sound effects are top-notch. This game has a lot of depth as well, with each race having its own tech-tree, units, and tactics.  It’s really a great game and once you throw in the multiplayer factor, you won’t even want to play anything else for awhile. As some of you may know, it can be a bit of a pain to get games through Gameloft, due to the fact they only sell the games through their own site. Well, time to get over it as this game is one of the best I’ve played since I switched over to using Android. If you want a solid RTS with great graphics & an old school vibe, you have to get this slick game from Gameloft. If I still haven’t convinced you how awesome this game truly is, check out the video below.
