Developers Vector Unit makers of the popular game Riptide GP have brought fans another water-based game in the form of Shine Runner. Shine Runner has you piloting a boat, but you won’t be racing… you’ll be running some moonshine.
Shine Runner is more than just your average Shine runnin’ game, because Shine Runner lets you do a little trading with the locals as well. The “basic” premise of the game puts you into the role of Moonshiner, and you’ll buy cargo like Shine, Tobacky, and Snakeoil then take them onto the next locale in a race for profits. As you travel along the waters you’re presented with rich environments, animated characters, and slick boats. And those rich environments… you can smash through almost all of it. One of the games taglines is, “If you can see it, you can smash it” and that sounds pretty damned awesome to me.
I saw Shine Runner pop into the market this morning, and while I haven’t had a chance to play it yet I’m chompin’ at the bit to run a little shine. The whole running contraband idea in races is a great idea, and if you played Vector Units other game Riptide GT you know Shine Runner is going to be a pretty slick game. I’ll have a full review up on the game over the weekend, until then you can head on over to the market and pick up Shine Runner for $1.99.
