HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition Now Available in the US

by On June 27, 2013

Google Edition Good news for Android lovers everywhere and especially here, in the United States, as from today you can grab the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition from Google Play. Both of them are high end smartphones and they run on pure Android, without the in-house user interface, as it was originally promised some time ago. If you are lucky enough to live in the US, you can get them now just by visiting Google Play. But beware, you will have to dig deep in your pockets, as the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition comes with a price tag of $649. The HTC One running on pure Android blood is a tad cheaper, but nothing spectacular, it costs $599. In order to sweeten the deal, the shipping is free for both of them. If you decide to buy the Android edition of the two flagship smartphones, they will be delivered starting with July 9, give or take a few days. The Google Edition is meant to satisfy the Android purists out there, those who aren’t happy with the inherent limitations of the Nexus 4, for example. But the price tag of the Google Edition is a safe bet that Nexus 4 sales won’t be affected. Also, the S4/One  Google Edition are supposed to be faster and also to have more internal memory, since they’re stripped of HTC/ Samsung’s proprietary software and User Interface. The Google Edition S4 will have an unlocked bootloader which will give you more flexibility and it will update its Android OS just like a Nexus device, and that’s pretty cool. The HTC One pure Android will also have the bootloader unlocked and it will receive its Android updates directly from Google. In terms of hardware, the two smartphones will be exactly the same, just like the older models, nothing is changed except the software tweaks. Source :  Google Play
