IceCat Studios releases Garden Troopers for Android

by On May 31, 2012

Tomatoes or Cucumbers which one will you choose? That’s the question in IceCat Studios new Android Game Garden Troopers as you’ll have to pick a veggie and try to best your opponent to become king of the Garden. Garden Troopers is a strategy game of sorts that lets you play as tomatoes or cucumbers with the goal of taking all the squares/cell’s on the game board. The gameplay is similar to Reversi, and you’ll be rewarded points for every cell you capture during a game. There are also many different types of cells to conquer; if you hit a rocky cell no plants can grow, and there are tomato and cucumber specific cells as well. The games are all very fast paced, similar to a game of speed chess so they can be won quickly if you’re good at strategy games. That being said, Garden Troopers does have some depth with its five levels of difficulty, 2 game modes, and 11 sizes of playing fields.

Verdict

Garden Troopers is a nice quick play strategy game that’s easy to play, but difficult to master on the harder settings. I was able to blow through games fairly easy starting out, but as I raised the size of the playing field and difficulty things got quite a bit trickier. If you’re looking for a good quick play game Garden Troopers is well worth a look, and you can check it out for free on Google Play.
