Kairosoft unleashes their New Game Cafeteria Nipponica onto Android
I’m pretty groggy this morning, and there’s a good reason for it as the folks at Kairosoft unleashed Cafeteria Nipponica for Android late last night. Yes, you now get to run a cafeteria in true Kairosoft style, and as you might expect it’s quite a bit of fun. Your goal in Cafeteria Nipponica is to run a series of successful restraunts in different parts of town. You’ll start out with one, but it really doesn’t take long to get access to the 2nd location although you’ll need around 8k to actually “open” it. As you get your restaurants up and running you’ll have to keep customers happy, keep the décor fresh, and experiment with new dishes. Early on I noticed that the game doesn’t seem to walk you through things as much as the company’s previous titles, and actually found myself hitting the help section early on for once. There seems to be a lot of different ingredients to find and dishes to unlock although I have no idea of how many yet. Cafeteria Nipponica borrows gameplay elements from other Kairosoft titles, but there are a few new things thrown in there as well.
My first impression of Cafeteria Nipponica is that’s it plays out slower than most of Kairosoft’s other titles, and there doesn’t seem to be quite as much to do. I played for a few hours late last night and was basically able to put the game on autopilot for most of the time. That being said, it feels like I’m missing out on a lot so I expect (hope) more surprises pop up as the game progresses. It also seems tougher to earn in this one; I had access to the 2nd restaurant early in the game, but can’t seem to keep enough cash together to actually open it as my profit started dropping late in the first year. It definitely seems more like a true “sim” compared to some of their other games that actually let you do a few things. I do like Cafeteria Nipponica, but I’m not sure where I’m going to rank it compared to the company’s other titles yet. If you’re a Kairosoft fan there’s no doubt you’ll want to pick up Cafeteria Nipponica, and you can do so for $4.99 on Google Play.
