A little over a week ago we saw that the recently released Square Enix “Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light” game had been pulled from the Google Play Store. The game was released as an exclusive for select Sony Xperia phones, including the Xperia Play. However there were reports that the game wasn’t actually compatible with the Xperia Play. Other reports indicated that the game was pulled due to technical issues such as the secondary download required for the game not downloading.
Square Enix appear to have fixed the issues now and Lara Croft is again available on the Google Play Store to purchase and download. Currently, the game is still only an exclusive for select Xperia devices which include the Sony Xperia S and Xperia Ion as well as the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. There is no word on when Square Enix will release the game for other Android devices but, exclusivity deals don’t usually last too long, often a month. So it shouldn’t be too long until we see the game reach more Android phones and tablets. Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is the first Lara Croft game to hit Android but, hopefully it won’t be the last. If you have any of the mentioned Xperia smartphones you can download the adventure game for 99p/$1.29. The initial download from Google Play is 5MB and you will need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network for the secondary download which contains the game data and weighs in at just under 310MB
