In a rather surprising move, Microsoft has just released a new Android app for its Windows Live Hotmail service. Yes, believe it or not folks, Hotmail is still alive. And apparently, if the new Android app is an indication of anything, it has to be the fact that many are still using Hotmail. I have an existing Hotmail account but I rarely used it anymore. Anyway, if you’re webmail service is Hotmail and you own an Android phone or tablet, you might want to check out the new Hotmail Android app which is available now as a free download from the Android Market. Essentially, what this Android app does it to give you quick and easy access to your Hotmail account.  Of course, a native phone app is still better than using an online service via your phone’s web browser. So, what does the Hotmail Android app has to offer? Nothing much really. The app’s description from the Android Market list down its features as follow:

  • With push email get messages on your phone without delay
  • Synced calendar and contacts
  • View your folders in Hotmail, including sub folders
  • Send pictures from your phone using Hotmail
  • Supports multiple Hotmail accounts
  • Send, receive and view attachments
Those features are pretty much what you need for the mobile app counterpart of a webmail service, right? So, what are you waiting for, get the Hotmail Android app now so that you won’t miss any important email again.
