The new Sprint smartphone, the EVO Shift, is expected to launch on January 9, for $150 on a new two year contract. While we haven’t heard anything official from HTC or Sprint at this point in time, there have been a plethora of leaks and rumors to satiate our smartphone rumor addiction. CellPhoneSignal has received some new renders of the smartphone in addition to nearly all the important specs. To begin with, the HTC EVO Shift 4G features a 3.7 inch touch screen, Android 2.2, slider QWERTY keyboard, 8MP camera, VGA front facing camera, Dual LED flash, 4G WiMAX connectivity (assuming you live in one of the Sprint 4G markets), FM radio, and an included 8GB microSD card. No word on whether the EVO Shift will be upgraded to Android 2.3 at a later date, but at least it is launching with a modern version of Android in Froyo, I mean even the Epic is still on Android 2.1. Assuming the processor is of good speed, HTC has created a powerful, high-end slider smartphone to join the ranks of the EVO and the Epic in terms of 4G Android smartphones.
