Pixowl releases The Sandbox for Android

by On

We briefly talked about it a few weeks ago and now it’s finally arrived.  The Pixel art God game known as The Sandbox has just been unleashed for Android, and if you’re feeling a little godlike today you might want to clear up some free time… The Sandbox is a game that lets you play god with pixels as you’ll use base elements to make new and interesting things. When we say interesting we mean it as you’ll be able to make simple things like mud and fire alongside more complex creations like electricity and dinosaurs. As you’re God of your own little world you’ll be able to build and create things on a whim in Freeplay mode or you can take on over 70 missions in the campaign. Creativity is the name of the game, and if you’re a creative person you’ll be in hog heaven with The Sandbox. As cool as The Sandbox is the whole game isn’t free, only half of it. You will get the first 30 missions and Freeplay mode for free, but additional mission packs have to be purchased via the IAP setup. That being said, it took me around 3 hours to clear the 30 missions and Freeplay gives you unlimited gameplay… definitely not going to gripe about that. Contrary to popular belief (and market comments) this is the EXACT same setup as the iOS version so you’re not getting duped out of  free expansions. I’m pretty anti-apple and don’t own their tech so I couldn’t check for myself, but confirmed it this morning with the folks at Pixowl. Needless to say, if you’re feeling Godlike The Sandbox is a game you’ll want to check out and we’ll be back in a few days with a full review. Update – I honestly have no idea what’s going on with this one. As mentioned, I don’t have an iOS device and the Developer did inform me via email that the Android and iOS versions are identical. I have been told otherwise from friends of mine (and readers) with i-devices; the grumblings from around the net are saying the same thing. Don’t shoot the messenger…
