kingdom.rush-androidYou don’t have to look hard to find a tower defense game on Google Play, but you have to dig a little to find great ones. Well, we got a “great” one last week when Ironhide Game Studios released Kingdom Rush for Android, and if you’re looking for an epic tower defense game, look no further…Screenshot_2013-05-23-20-45-16Kingdom Rush takes a mythical approach to things as you’ll set up towers to stop orcs, trolls, bats, wolves, and dozens of other creatures. You only get 4 towers to defend your kingdom, but you’ll get several cool upgrades and abilities for each tower. There’s no need to worry about how you spend your hard earned upgrade points either as you can reset them and use them as you see fit before each battle. It’s a small thing, but it’s a very nice touch. Tower defense games are all about the numbers, and Kingdom Rush is no different. You’ll get 4 towers, 8 specialized tower upgrades, 18 tower abilities, 50 types of enemies, 60 achievements, 3 game modes, and 9 different heroes. It’s not a game you’ll get through in one sitting, and there’s plenty of replay value once you do finish things off. There are some IAP’s thrown in there, but you don’t have to buy anything to complete the game. Screenshot_2013-05-23-20-27-13Kingdom Rush was a popular Flash game before going mobile, and after spending a few hours with the game it’s easy to see why it’s so well liked. It’s a game that is hard to put down, and you’ll definitely drain a battery or two once you get sucked into the game. The only knock I’ve had so far is with the fact that most of the Hero characters are unavailable unless you buy them outright. It’s not a deal breaker, but you should have the “option” to unlock them with gems even if you have to grind it out. Either way, Kingdom Rush is a game that lives up to the hype, and you can pick it up for $1.99 on Google Play.
