Adventure games were all the rage in the 90s, and Replay Games looks to bring that classic style of gaming back with Fester Mudd: Curse of the Gold. It’s a tale of brothers, gunslingers, and gold; it’s also a game that doesn’t take itself too seriously as Fester isn’t your typical adventurer… Fester Mudd is an old school adventure game that brings back those large clunky interfaces full of simple commands like Use, Give, and Open. Yup, it’s that kind of game and the world’s a better place for it. The game follows Fester as he heads out on his donkey Martha in search of his brother Bud, and as you’d expect all sorts of shenanigans ensue. Fester Mudd is full of fun dialogue, and while things tend to move along at a brisk pace, there’s plenty to do and see in the pixelated Old West. It’s also an ongoing story, and Episode One is just the first of three parts. Fester Mudd: Curse of the Gold takes me back to the good old days when I would sit like a zombie for hours playing games like Gabriel Knight. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, just roll with it as this may be the only time I ever get to mention Gabriel Knight in an Android article. Fester Mudd takes a tongue-in-cheek approach to things, and it works well as the game has been truly been a blast to play so far. Prank did a great job with the world of Fester Mudd, and I’m looking forward to seeing the next two chapters in the game. If you’re ready to help poor Fester in his search, you can head on over to Google Play and pick up Fester Mudd: Curse of the Gold for free.
