The Samsung Galaxy S3 has Officially Arrived!

by On

The wait is finally over for all you Samsung fans out there (myself included) as the Galaxy 3 has finally arrived. Today Samsung introduced the world to their new super phone, but that wasn’t all Samsung had up its sleeve at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked 2012 event… Samsung’s event started off a little as as we got treated with Muzak and floating bubbles which didn’t necessarily get me “hyped up” while I was waiting. At 2:04 things kicked off with a video presentation unveiling the phone with a mini-orchestra playing in the background. Nice close ups of the orchestra, people blowing bubbles, and some pigeons. After about 3 minutes of video montages JK Shin hit the stage, explained why the phone is so bad assed, and we finally got to see the phone and hear its actual name… The Samsung Galaxy S3.  Here’s a brief rundown of what we learned…

They really stressed the “smart” features of the phone; especially the eye tracking, and voice applications all of which seemed very cool. They also touched on it “predicting our intentions” which actually sounds pretty creepy when you think about it. That being said the new technology in the S3 will keep the screen awake when you’re awake, knows precisely what you’re doing, and can respond to you with S Voice. Apparently it also listens intently which is more than a lot of us can say for our closest friends or spouses; if they can make it cook and scratch my back I’ll be set for life. My overall impression of the phone and The Galaxy S3’s new “intelligence” is that it’s pretty damned smart and beats would beat poor Siri to a pulp. That being said, if they name one of the courier versions Skynet I’m heading for the hills. May 29th is a date to mark on your calendars, and it looks like the new phone is going to be a big seller as well as a worthy predecessor to the Galaxy S2. My favorite part of the presentation aside from the actual phone was seeing all the cell phones lighting up the audience like lighters at a rock show, pretty cool and quite fitting actually. You can check out the video announcement for yourself at the link below, and we’ll keep you up to date with pre-orders as soon as they go live. I for one am psyched about the new Galaxy S3, and think others will be as well. What do you think, do we finally have a true iPhone killer or is the new Galaxy S3 just another nice smartphone?
