Remember those old clamshell phones everyone used to run around with? You really don’t see many of them around these days, but that doesn’t mean they are gone. The Samsung Hennessy is proof of that, and it was just officially announced by Samsung China.
The Samsung Hennessy isn’t your ordinary clamshell phone. Yes, it flips shut just like the old school phones did, but the Hennessy sports dual screens and dual sims. It may sound cool, but the specs aren’t going to blow you away as those two 3.3-inch touchscreens only have a resolution of 320×480 which is a far cry from what we’ve seen on phones like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5.
The display may be a little underwhelming, but the processor packs some punch as the Samsung Hennessy rocks a 1.2GHz quad-core processor to go along with 1GB of RAM. The OS is Android of course, but it’ll just be Jelly Bean 4.1. The camera is 5MP with a flash, and the form factor adds some weight as it comes in at 208g compared to the Galaxy S4 at 130 grams.
The Samsung Hennessy isn’t the first dual screen flip-phone we’ve seen, and it surely won’t be the last although it’s a strange choice considering the form factor of 99% of today’s smartphones. No release date has been given for the Samsung Hennessy, and there’s no word if it will be available outside of China.
