Samsung's Sales Beats Apple's in the US in May For the First Time since iPhone 5 was Released

by On June 6, 2013

samsung Business Insider reported this morning an interesting fact, that Samsung sold more Android running smart phones in the US market than Apple in the month of May, for the first time since the iPhone 5 was introduced. This is an important victory for Android and especially for Samsung, beating Apple on their on turf. It is well known that North America is the playing ground for Apple, or at least it used to be. The data was released by an analyst from Canaccord Genuity, Mr. Michael Walkley. This victory comes after the same Koreans managed to put Nokia to shame in Finland, again, playing against all odds and winning. Let me quote from that report: “In the U.S. market, the Samsung Galaxy S4 was the top-selling smartphone at Verizon/Sprint/T-Mobile, and second best-selling smartphone at AT&T to the iPhone 5.”We believe dominant sales of the S4 versus other Android smartphones was driven by Samsung’s extremely strong Galaxy consumer brand and well-executed marketing campaign, as our surveys indicated store representatives often recommended the HTC One ahead of the Galaxy S4.” The huge commercial success of Samsung’s flagship, the Galaxy S4, along with strong sales of  the S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 were the force behind the turning of the tide in favor of the Koreans. According to comShare, as announced yesterday, Apple controlled 39.2% market share in the US smart phone business, the data covered the sales figures  from February until the end of April 2013, and these were record months for the company. In this period of time, Apple was the king in terms of market share in the US. Canaccord data is measuring the sales figures from last month, in which Samsung looks like is having an edge. But apparently, their data don’t include all Apple’s portfolio, just the iPhone 5, they didn’t look at the sales of iPhone 4 or 4S. samsung Source : Business Insider
