Skyfire 4.0 for Android Released with 8 New Features

Skyfire, one of the alternative web browser for Android smartphone has just been updated to version 4.0. The new version of the Skyfire now lets you fully customize the Skybar Toolbar. Eight new features were also added to this toolbar including a premium video feature which you can purchase via in-app method. ¬†This video feature draws from Skyfire’s cloud-based servers in optimizing videos that you find across the web. The enhanced Skyfire Toolbar is now fully scrollable and customizable. Buttons for Twitter, Groupon and Google Reader, share, sports, news and finance feeds – were added to the previous Facebook, Fireplace, Popular, Ideas and Like buttons on the Skybard toolbar. Skyfire version 4.0 also now features video optimization for an optional fee of $299 which can be unlocked via in-app purchase. If you don’t want to spend that amount immediately, you can put the feature on trial for 3 days. But if you’re fond of watching more videos on your Android smartphones, the video optimization feature will significantly reduce your data usage as well as power consumption. But here’s the good news for Verizon customers using Android phones. Skyfire is offering the video feature for free via the VCast app section of the Android Market on your Verizon Android phones. Also, for beta testers who’ve been using Skyfire since its inception, the video optimization will remain free forever. Skyfire for Android is available as a free download from the Android Market. via BGR
