Spotify Android app receives a major overhaul and new features

Popular music streaming app, Spotify for Android has just received a major overhaul bringing in not just a new interface but more new features as well. Top-billing the new features of Spotify Android app is the fact that it now fully supports Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. So if you just updated your Galaxy Note or just got your new Samsung Galaxy S3, the app will now work seamlessly with your device. Of course other Android tablets and phones running ICS will also enjoy those features. Aside from the completely overhauled interface, the app now also features slide-out navigation, new home-screen widget, new sharing features as well as 320kbps streaming. The app also now support Last.fm for your Internet radio listening needs. The app’s change log list the improvements as follow:

  • Top-to-bottom redesign
  • All-new slide-out navigation
  • Even more social – check out friends’ profile pages and playlists on the go
  • Artist imagery in high resolution
  • Related artist view – available for the first time on mobile
  • ‘Extreme’ sound quality setting for 320kbps listening

  • Widget – control Spotify from the home screen
  • Folder support

Spotify Android app is available now as a free download from Google Play. However, to enjoy the premium features of Spotify the music streaming service, you have to subscribe to a premium account for a fee. And take note that not all countries are supported by Spotify as of today.
