It’s always nice to see the classics make their way to Android, and last week we got the ZX Spectrum classic The Lords of Midnight. Chili Hugger Software Limited brought the Mike Singleton retro classic to our touchscreens and the world’s a better place for it. The Lords of Midnight is an adventure game of epic proportions that has you work to take down Doomdark the Witchking. You’ll start out as Luxor the Moon Prince and along with your son Morkin you can recruit other lords to your cause or try to take on the treacherous Doomdark head on with a group of lords. There’s a quirky cast of characters and all sorts of cool fantasy elements like the Ice Crown, but the real star of the show is you as you’ll set the tone for your story and how things play out. This is probably one of the vaguest articles I’ve done, but this isn’t a review so I’m not going to spoil the game for people that haven’t played it : ) The Lords of Midnight was the cat’s meow back in the day if you were into fantasy adventure games, and while the times have changed it’s great to see something like this on Android. It’s not going to be for everyone, but it’ll make a lot of retro gamers born in early 80s smile and hopefully introduce some new fans to the game. The games creator Mike Singleton was very deeply involved in bringing The Lords of Midnight to modern times up until his death in October of last year, sadly before the game was released for mobiles. While we’ll never know what the finished product would have been, I’m glad to see the game went out as-is (thanks Chris) and hope other people will enjoy this fine retro classic/tribute. If you’d like to try out LOM for the first time or relieve a few memories from your childhood you can pick up The Lords of Midnight for $4.99 on Google Play.
