best android puzzle games 2012

Whether you’re twisting or tapping, puzzle games are always a joy to play. The puzzle category was one of the more difficult ones to nail down , but after going through hundreds of games we managed to narrow it down to 15. Without further ado, we proudly present our picks for the Best Android Puzzle Games of 2012…

Zen Bound 2

If you’re looking for a puzzle game that’s unique, look no further than Zen Bound 2. The games puzzles require you to wrap rope around different wooden sculptures and the name is very fitting as it tends to send you into a Zen like trance. You can check out Secret Exit’s Zen Bound 2 for $2.99 on Google Play.

Tiny Bang Story

No other game on this list frustrated me more than Tiny Bang Story. I mean that in the nicest way possible as I couldn’t put the game down, but had to cheat several times by hitting up a walkthrough. It’s a hidden object puzzler that pays great attention to detail, and it’s full of cool mini-games that work well to break things up. If you dig hidden object puzzlers it’s a game you need to check out and there are free & paid version available to download on Google Play.

The Curse

Mojo Bones first grabbed our attention with the fun platformer Tongue Tied! before blowing us away with The Curse. It’s a puzzler full of puzzles and you’ll have to get through 100 levels if you want to solve the Mannequin’s final mystery. You can snag The Curse for only $2.99 on Google Play.

Cut the Rope Experiments

Om Nom came back out to play this year with Zeptolab’s Cut the Rope Experiments. He’s just as hungry as he was the first time around, and you’ll get to feed him across 150 levels of  puzzling physics fun.  Zeptolab’s took the motto “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” to heart and the result is a game that’s just as fun as the original. There are free and paid version of Cut the Rope Experiments, both can be downloaded from Google Play.

Motley Blox

Square Enix is a name usually associated with RPG’s, but they decided for a nice change of pace with Motley Blocks. It’s a 3-D puzzler of the finest fashion, it has 80 puzzles to solve, and it’s free! It’s one of the more overlooked games on our list, and a great game to pick up if you’re looking for something different.

graBLOX

graBLOX came out of nowhere earlier this year and wowed the puzzling world with it’s unique style of play. graBLOX is all about grabbing blocks and you’ll have to plan carefully if you want to clear each quirky stage. You can check out graBLOX for free on Google Play.

Freeze!

Freeze! is Frozen Gun Games first entry into the Android field, and it’s a doozy. This physics-based puzzler has you rotating sinister cells as you attempt to set the Hero of the game free. The Hero of the game is an eyeball… just so you know. It’s odd, but a ton of fun and you can get the first 25 levels for free and unlock more through IAP’s in the game.

Machinarium

Machinarium is an award-winning puzzler involving a robot and his lost love. You’ll have to help robot Josef get his girl back through working puzzle, solving brain-teasers, and playing mini-games. Needless to say you’re going to have a lot of fun doing it. The artwork is stunning, the gameplay is puzzling and it can be yours for only $4.99.

Greedy Spiders 2

Greedy Spiders 2 picks up where the original left off… with lots of little bugs in need of your help. You’ll have to free the bugs from the treacherous spider webs through 72 levels, and the spiders are a lot smarter this time around. It’s frustrating, it’s fun, and there’s even a free version you can check out. If you like what you see you can snag the full version of Blyts Greedy Spiders 2 for $0.99 on Google Play.

Pixel Twist

Noodlecake brought fun in droves all year long and Pixel Twist is their entry into our puzzle list. This little puzzle puts you to work twisting up pixels to form images so you can make it to the next level. As for the levels there are over 90 of them to go along with two different game modes. If you like your puzzles tile-based, BraveSmart is a game you’ll want to check out. This strategic puzzler puts you to work settling squabbles between Scottish Tribes in the Middle Ages, and if that’s not enough you’ll have to watch out for the sheep as well. You can check out Flaregames BraveSmart for free on Google Play.

Bad Piggies

Is it a physics-based game or a puzzler? It really doesn’t matter as Rovio made fans joyous when they gave those Piggies their very own game. Bag Piggies puts you to work piecing together contraptions across 87 levels using lots of fun objects like wings, bottle rockets, umbrellas, and motors. There’s also a sandbox mode that lets you really get creative and best of all it’s free!

Pictorial

Miniclip.com released a slew of games this year and Pictorial is their entry on our list. This puzzle game uses stars to make things fun as you’ll get to play “connect the stars” across six different storylines. Some of the game is available to try for free, and the full game can be purchased from within the game if you like what you see.

Curiosity

Curiosity is one of those games that’s hard to categorize, but we felt it belonged in the puzzle genre as the whole thing is nothing but one big puzzle. If you’ve not heard of 22cans experimental game it involves a massive cube with thousands of people tapping off cublets at the same time. There’s a super-secret prize in the middle that only one person can obtain and nobody knows just how big the cube is. It’s definitely unique as there’s nothing quite like it and you can check it out for free.

City of Secrets

City of Secrets is a puzzling point and tap adventure game that requires you to use your noodle to get though some tricky situations. It’s a game with intrigue, moles, and plenty of secrets; it’s also got a unique style that sets it apart from the rest of the pack. If you’re in the mood for mystery you can pick up Aidem Media’s City of Secrets for free.
