by On

As 2011 came to a close and 2012 is underway, we thought it was the perfect time to break out our Best Android Games of the 2011 lists. After several debates, arguments, and a few hurt feelings the staff at & has managed to put together several Top 5 lists of the best games to drop in 2011. We’ve done it by genre, and this time around we’re giving you our top picks for the best Tower Defense games. Without further ado, we proudly present The Best Android Tower Defense Games of 2011…

1. Jelly Defense

What’s better than Tower Defense? How about a little game called Jelly Defense from Infinite Dreams. Jelly Defense puts a fun twist on the normal old Tower Defense game as everything in this game is made from Jelly. Jelly may be soft and squishy, but this game is not as it’s one of the hardest Tower Defense games around. Jelly Defense has plenty of levels, lots of cool towers, and more than enough depth for even the most hardcore gamers. You can get Infinite Dreams Jelly Defense from the Android market for $2.99.

2. Fieldrunners HD

Subatomic Studios dropped one of the slickest Tower Defense games we’ve ever seen into the market last year with Fieldrunners HD. Fieldrunners gives gamers 7 different types of weapons/towers to use, and you’ll need them all as you take on wave after wave of enemies. Clearing the game is not easy; you’ll need to get through over 400 waves on 4 different battlefields and if you’re like me you’ll want to get all of Fieldrunners cool achievements as well. Fieldrunners HD is a top-notch Tower Defense game that you should definitely check out if you haven’t already. You can get Fieldrunners HD in the Android market for $2.99.

3. GRave Defense

Art of Bytes made zombie fans, and tower defense fans happy this past year with GRave Defense HD. GRave Defense HD is by far the toughest Tower Defense game on the list, and quite possibly the TD game period. GRave Defense HD has 35 sharp HD levels to play through and you’ll get to face off against monsters of all kinds in locations like the Amazon Rainforest, Bermuda Triangle and even Outer Space. GRave Defense is highly addictive and extremely difficult so if you like a challenge you’re going to have your hands full with this game. You can pick up GRave Defense for $2.88 in the Android market.

4. Sentinel 3: Homeworld

Tower Defense games take many forms and are set in many different locales. Sentinel 3: Homeworld from Origin8 Technologies takes the TD genre and launches it right into outer space. This Sci-Fi themed TD game gives you a full arsenal with over 20 unlockable turrets, orbital ship weapons, and even automated drones. You can even customize your weapon loadout in the armory to make sure you’ve got the right weapons for each one of the 20 grueling missions. Sentinel 3: Homeworld also has several different modes of play which adds another layer of depth to an already deep game. You can get Sentinel 3: Homeworld in the Android market for $2.99.

5. Defender

The last game on our list isn’t a “true” Tower Defense game, but after much debate we decided to add it to the list as it was just to fun of a game to leave off. Defender from Droidhen is an awesome Castle Defense game that has you taken out waves of enemy with your massive Bow. You can upgrade certain abilities like strength and agility while selecting different bow’s to take down your enemies with. The controls are easy to use and we get Boss Battles which is never a bad thing. Defender may not be a true TD game, but its awesome game nonetheless. You can get Droidhen’s Defender for free in the market.
