best.new_.android.apps-may It was a slow week for new Android Apps, but we still managed to scrounge a few up. Here we go with another edition of The Best New Android Apps of the Week…

1. Google I/O 2013

The Google I/O app isn’t new, but it has just been updated for Google I/O 2013. The big conference is next week, and if you can’t be there the Google I/O app will keep you up-to-date on what’s going down at the show. Google I/O 2013 is free to download on Google Play.google.io

2. STARZ Play

STARZ Play is the new mobile app from STARZ, and it’s basically just like HBO or Max Go. You’ll be able to watch STARZ movies and original series while you’re on the go, and you’ll also be able to resume and watch across multiple platforms. You will have to be a STARZ Subscriber to use the app, but the app itself is free to download.starz.play

3. Snoop Lion’s Snoopify!snoopify

Snoop Lion’s Snoopify! lets you decorate your pictures with all sorts of Snoop Lion themed stickers so you can share them with folks through the usual social channels. If you’re a fan of the Artist formerly known as Snoop Dogg, it’s an app you may want to check out. Snoopify is free to download.

4. Pebble Glancepebble.glance

We see a few more Pebble apps every week, and last week brought us Pebble Glance from Finebyte. Pebble Glance works with your Pebble watch via the Music Watch App to show you the current time, date, and weather on your smart watch. It’s a Beta, but it does as advertised, and it’s free to download if you want to check it out.

5. Karate Schoolkarate.school

Karate School is an interesting Android App as it teaches you how to be a referee in karate tournaments. You’ll watch short videos to learn what to look for when scoring a bout, and take a quiz at the end to see how much you’ve learned. It’s a simple app, but an official app of the WKF and a good way to get the word out about getting Karate into the Olympics in 2020. Karate School is free to download if you want to give it a whirl.

6. Widgets for Skype (ROOT)

Widgets for Skype gives you three home screen widgets for use in Skype. You’ll get a widget for messages, contacts, and a presence widget which is extremely handy if you change your status a lot. It’s for ROOTED users only – if you are rooted and want to check it out, it’s free to download.

7. T-Talkt-mob

If you’re a T-Mobile Business Connect customer, the T-Talk app lets you take your office calls with you while you’re on the go by extending the business service to your mobile device. It’s obviously not going to be for everyone, but it looks like a valuable app to have on hand if you’re a T-Mob Business Customer. T-Talk for phones and tablets is free to download on Google Play.
