LG announced officially that their next flagship, the LG Optimus G2, will definitely run on the Snapdragon 800 system on chip, which is the most powerful SoC at the moment. If you check out my previous articles regarding this matter, you will see why.

Anyway, LG and Qualcomm are partners now and they announced the LG Optimus G2 to hit the markets later this year, fingers crossed LG!

Well, all the smart phone manufacturers are now looking forward to equip their flagship devices with Qualcomm’s finest, so it’s no surprise that the G2 will take advantage of this too. Both Sony and Samsung are rumored to be in beta testing with the Snapdragon 800, we know almost for sure that the Xperia ZU and the Galaxy S4 LTE-Advanced will feature Qualcomm’s latest SoC in the near future.

But LG is the first mobile phone manufacturer who officially announced that its future Optimus G2 will run on the Snapdragon 800.  There are rumors about LG dropping the “Optimus”  brand for its new gen of smart phones, and the next flagship will be simply named “G2″, we’ll have to wait and see about that.

In the last days, a few benchmarks starring the Snapdragon 800 surfaced on the internet, and people were exhilarated by its incredible performance, putting to shame the processor in the iPad 4 and also Nvidia’s Tegra line.

Along with the improved performance, the Snapdragon 800 brings the new LTE Advanced architecture already built in, and that’s also a huge advantage of the platform. For graphic applications, the Snapdragon 800 comes with the new Adreno 330 GPU, which supports resolutions of up to 2560 x 2048 pixels and it can play videos in Ultra HD standard.

The new LG Optimus G2, or the G2 for friends, is expected to hit the markets this autumn. It is announced as the best smart phone LG ever produced and it’s rumored to have an edge to edge display, with the hardware buttons moved on its back.
