What comes next after Android 2.2, more popularly known as Android Froyo? The last time we checked it will be the tablet friendly Android 3 or codename – Gingerbread. But then what comes after Gingerbread? Believe it or not, as early as now that Android version already has a nickname and it will be called Honeycomb. This was confirmed by multiple sources to Techradar. But what else do we know about this OS update? Is it as radical as what Google did with Android 2.1 (Eclair) to Android 2.2 (Froyo)? According to the report, Android Honeycomb won’t be a major update like what Google did with Android 2.2 from 2.1. It will most likely just be an incremental upgrade and not what we are hoping it to be which is Android 4.0. It would have been interesting if the said Android Honeycomb would be also the Android 4.0 – can you imagine how many sites will pit in iOS 4 vs Android 4? Android Honeycomb’s release date is definitely unknown at this point and we won’t be obliging Google to release it sooner since Gingerbread has to come out first. And that will be sometime end of the year or perhaps early 2011. What we know for certain is that Android 3.0 or Gingerbread won’t have much of an impact to Android phones since Google is gearing it up for the use of tablet PCs. So, there. Are you excited about the upcoming Android OS? I am, especially for the Android 4. Things will certainly heat up between IOS 4 vs Android 4. Whose side are you on?
