The Official Cracker Jack App hits Google Play

by On April 23, 2013

cracker.jack.appIt’s pretty safe to say that most people have heard of the molasses flavored popcorn known as Cracker Jacks. The Cracker Jack app is out to remind folks of the nostalgic candy, and it even offers up a little baseball to boot.cracker.jack-1 Cracker Jacks have been around since 1896, and they got a huge boost in 1908 due to the song “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”. The Cracker Jack app brings Sailor Jack and Bingo to modern times with a few mini-games and Cracker Jack prizes. The first mini-game is a marble game that has you attempt to get several small balls into holes on the playing field. After each level,  you’ll get a fun fact, and while you only start three levels you can get 6 more levels and 2 additional boards through codes found on packages of Cracker Jacks. The second game lets you step up to the plate for a bit of baseball as you have to swing and hit three targets in the outfield. It follows the same setup as the first game with three levels, and additional levels can be unlocked via code. As for those prizes, so far I’ve only seen a few images that can be saved to your device… and I had an error saving both to my device. The Cracker Jack app is a nice little piece of nostalgia that could have been a “great” offering from a classic American brand. There’s honestly not much to the app, cracker.jack-2and you’ll blow through the six levels in 5 minutes or less. The prizes have to be the biggest disappointment though as they could have done a lot of cool things with that aspect of the app, but chose to offer up simple pictures. They could get cooler with the codes off the boxes, but I doubt it. In a way, I guess you could say they nailed the prizes as Cracker Jack hasn’t put anything cool in the box since I was a kid in the 80s. It’s definitely not the best product tie-in app we’ve seen, and it’s really not much of a game either to be honest. Our advice would be to skip the app, and just go buy yourself a box of Cracker Jacks to munch on while you play another game. If you still want to give it a go, you can pick up the Cracker Jack app for free on Google Play. Cracker Jack
