The PayPal Android App gets an Update and a New Look

by On

I’ve been using PayPal for around 8 years now, and the PayPal Android app is one of the first apps I put on any new Android device I purchase. Well, it looks like the old PayPal app just got a face lift and quite a few new features to boot… If you’re not familiar with what PayPal is, it’s basically an online payment setup that a lot of folks use to for purchasing goods online. You can send money to your friends, shop online, and receive money from other people if you sell products online at places like Ebay or ETSY. It’s basically a digital wallet as you can link up your bank accounts, credit cards, etc.. The update is basically a total redo graphically as the colors have totally been switched up and the interface is much easier to navigate in my opinion. They’ve also added some new features to the app and one of the coolest is the ability to link your PayPal account to a Credit Card or Debit Card by simply taking a picture. You can also use your phone’s GPS to locate nearby merchants that use the new PayPal Here service. They’ve also enhanced & added support for ICS, and stomped out a few bugs as well.

I’ve been using the PayPal Android app to send money to friends and check my balance for awhile now, and as a constant PayPal user I can definitely appreciate the new photo/add card feature. As for the new look, I’m still on the fence about that one. I do think the app is much easier to use, but don’t really dig the new color scheme as much compared to the old one. Either way if you use PayPal a lot the PayPal Android app is a “must have” app for your phone and you can get it for free on Google Play.
