The Top 5 Game of Thrones Android Apps

by On June 3, 2012

I’ve complained a few times about the lack of Game of Thrones Android apps, but thought I’d try to scrounge a few good ones together in tribute to tonight’s big season finale. That and it gives me a chance to talk about Game of Thrones a little more than I normally do. Without further ado, I proudly present the Top 5 Android Apps that have something to do with the Game of Thrones…

1. A Game of Thrones Guide

There are actually a few guides out there, but Luis G. Valle’s A Game of Thrones Guide takes our top spot as it’s easy to use and it’s been updated to cover the first 2 books. The guide gives you a comprehensive rundown of the houses, characters, and places, but also has something rather cool called “Spoiler Control” which basically lets you know all you need to know about the first 2 seasons/books without spoiling it for you. It’s a great app for fans, and it’s free to download on Google Play.

2. Westeros Map (Game of Thrones)

The world of Game of Thrones is a large one, and one definitely needs a good map if you want to find your way around. The Westeros Map from Sergey Rekuz gives you detailed maps of Westeros and Essos right on your phone or tablet, and you won’t have to brave the Lannisters (or leave the couch) to get it. Whether you’re looking for King’s Landing, Blackwater Bay or Qarth, the Westeros Map has you covered. You can get Sergey Rekuz’s Westeros Map on Google Play for free.

3. Westeros Conquest

Like the classic board game Risk? If so, you’ll love Westoros Conquest which is basically Risk set in the universe of A Song of Ice and Fire or Game of Thrones if you haven’t read the books. The game takes Westeros and divides each kingdom into several cities; you choose the house you want to represent than it’s off to make your enemies pay with pain and suffering. Actually you’ll just conquer their territories, but you get the idea. You can check out Yann Badoual’s Westeros Conquest for free on Google Play.

4. Game of Thrones Trivia

We covered this one awhile back so we wonehash it again, but we will say it’s the best Game of Thrones Trivia app we’ve played. There’s a free version you can try out, and the full version will really test your knowledge with 5 game modes and 500 questions for only $1.99.

5. HBO Go

Last but not least is one of the best apps out there period if you’re a subscriber that is. The HBO Go app lets you watch current and past HBO series as well as movies. Most importantly it lets you watch every single episode of Game of Thrones for free as HBO is the network that puts out the amazing show. If you subscribe you probably already have this one and know how awesome it is, but on the off chance you don’t have it we highly advise you to pick it up.
