The Top New Android Games of the Week – March 4, 2013

by On March 4, 2013

It’s Monday which means it’s time for our picks on the Top 10 New Android Games of the Week. Last week saw several major releases including a highly anticipated racing game, a new Toy Story game, and a visit from those bloodthirsty Aliens & Predators.

1. Real Racing 3

Real Racing 3 hit Google Play this week, and it looks just as good as we thought it would. The game offers up over 40 different cars, dozens of tracks, and lots of IAP action. The IAP’s are present just like we knew they’d be, but the game is free and they are not overpowering unless you’re looking to play the game 24/7. We’ll have a full review up in a few days, until then we highly advise you to check it out for yourselves.

2. Toy Story Smash It!

Disney went crazy over Toy Story last week as they released a Toy Story themed Live Wallpaper alongside Toy Story Smash It! Smash it is a block busting game that puts you in the boots of Buzz Lightyear. You’ll get to fling balls at aliens in several cool settings including the Old West and Outer Space and it’s just as fun as you’d expect. No free version is available, but the full version is well worth the $0.99 price tag.

3. Shufflepuck Cantina

Shufflepuck Cantina is a space themed air hockey game that draws heavy influence from a universe we all know and love. You’ll get to take on 12 different opponents in over 100 levels of Shufflepuck fun, and as you can see from the screen below the game looks great. There are a few bugs that need squashed here and there, but it’s definitely a game you’ll want to check out. You can pick up Agharta Studios Shufflepuck Cantina for free on Google Play.

4. AVP Evolution

Angry Mob Games and Fox Digital released AVP Evolution last week, and we’re happy to say it’s much better than Colonial Marines. The game lets you step into the role of a Predator and an Alien as you battle the humans and each other. Its gory fun and you can pick it up for $4.99 on Google Play.

5. Towelfight 2

Towelfight 2 is a game that’s hard to explain so we’ll go with the developers description of “Settle a dispute between gods by shooting animals out of your face.” You’ll dispatch foes with your enchanted monocle which shoots out all sorts of fun things like unicorns and whales in heat. That’s not a typo. It’s as quirky a game as you’re likely to find on Google Play and it’ll only set you back $2.99.

6. Star Wars Pinball

Star Wars Pinball is the latest from Zen Studios makers of the insanely popular Zen Pinball HD. The Star Wars Pinball game gives you the Empire Strikes Back Table for $1.99 and two more tables (Boba Fett, Clone Wars) can be unlock from within the app for $1.99 apiece.

7. Robo5

Animoca has put out some extremely popular games over the past few years and their latest looks to be no exception. Robo5 lets you control a tiny box climbing robot trying to escape a lab in a steampunk world. It’s a game you just have to play for yourself, and we highly recommend you do just that. You can pick up Robo5 for free on Google Play.

8. Alien Quarantine

Oh Gameloft. One minute you’re releasing slick 3D games then out of nowhere you release something like Alien Quarantine. The new game is a 2D space horror game with heavy emphasis on space as there’s not much horror to be found. The game isn’t half bad though and worth checking out if you’re looking for something different. Alien Quarantine is free to download on Google Play.
