by On June 3, 2011

There were quite a few apps put out onto the market this week; some were great, while others were… not so great. We finally got Plants vs Zombies from PopCap games, and that was definitely the big news this week. After scouring the market we came up with 10 apps we thought were the best of the week. Without further Ado, here are our Top 10 Android Apps for this week…

1. Plants vs. Zombies

This one’s a no-brainer. People have waited a long time for an official Plants vs Zombies game, and now we have one. If your not familiar with this awesome game, you’ll defend your home from a horde of evil zombies with…. Plants! Some plants shoot ice while other explode; it’s really just a great, fun game overall. You can grab Plants vs. Zombies in the Amazon Market this week for $1.49.

2. S.O.S. by the American Red Cross

S.O.S. is a great new Medical app from The Red Cross. It has some valuable information if you’re ever in an emergency. It’s really a useful app and has step-by-step video narration from the famous Dr. Oz. They’ve even thrown in 3-D animations for some of the more complex issues like CPR, and Unconscious Choking. You can (and should) get this great app for free in the Market.

3. Army Sniper

Army Sniper is a new “Sniping” game from Words Mobile. There have been a few sniper games released into the market lately, and this one’s quite a bit of fun. This one uses your phones tilt controls, has two modes of play, and great graphics to boot. Easy to control and Fun to play; you can get Army Sniper for free in the Market.

4.  X-Men

Konami have released a few great games into the market lately, and this week they went Retro with X-Men. Yup, this is the old arcade game from way back in 92’. It had a few minor glitches when I ran it on the Captivate, but overall it was still fun to play. Great to see some of the old forgotten villains like Nimrod too! If you’re feeling a bit nostalgic, you can grab X-Men for 2.99 in the Market.

5. Omaha Steaks Steak Time

This one came out late last week, but I love steaks so they are going on this week’s list. The Omaha Steaks Steak Time App is a great app if you’re a meat eater. Not only do they sell some great steaks, they also have a lot of recipes and information about steaks. My favorite part of the app is the customizable Steak timer, which you can set up by thickness, doneness, or just self-time it to your preference. Really great app if you love Steak!

6. Beat Slider Lite

Beat Slider is a cool new rhythm game from DAWG|NET Productions. You’ll need to watch & copy the computers path to the beat, while racking up points. There are lite and paid versions of the game; the lite version lets you access two songs in their library, while the full version gives you everything. Both versions are available to download in the Market.

7. RainDrop

Raindrop puts you into the game as Water. Yup, you actually play a water drop who’s trapped inside some toxic rain. You have to destroy drops by releasing tiny droplets, all while avoiding the bigger drops. It sounds strange, and it is a bit odd, but it’s also surprisingly a lot of fun. Raindrop is a very simple game, that’s easy to use and you can get it for free in the Android Market.

8. Phantom Probes

Phantom Probes is a new game from Entertailion llc. It’s a physics-based game where you guess the shapes of invisible “phantom” objects by using different probes. You’ll make your guess depending on the reaction you get from the probes when used on the objects. It’s kind of hard to explain, but it’s actually quite fun. There are paid and free versions of Phanton Probes available for download in the Android Market.

9. TouchRetouch

TouchRetouch is a great new photo app that will let you easily remove unwanted things from your photos. You just mark the objects you want removed, click “GO and TouchRetouch will take care of the rest! There are a lot of cool things you could do with this app when you think about it; especially when you get something in that perfect picture that you don’t want your parents to see! TouchRetouch is avaialbe in the Android Market for 99 cents.

10. Super Fast Cam

Super Fast Cam may not be packed full of features, but it sure is one handy app. Most of us have seen something we wanted to capture on video with our phones, and it sucks when you can’t get your favorite camera app pulled up quickly enough to record. Super Fast Cam takes care of that problem by starting to instantly record video at the touch of a button. It’s Simple to use and best of all it’s free!
