by On April 16, 2012

We’re back again with another edition of The Top New Android Apps from the past week. We missed last week, but are back on track and have 10 new Android apps we think you’ll enjoy. Without further ado, we proudly present our Top Apps of the past week…

1. The Daily Show Headlines

Comedy Central released a cool Android App last week with The Daily Show Headlines App. This app lets you get headlines from the past few weeks, shows upcoming guest news and schedule alerts, and has a clip archive to let you witness some of the funniest moments from the show. You won’t get any full episodes, but it’s still a great app for fans of Jon Stewart and The Daily Show. You can pick up Daily Show Headlines for free on Google Play.

2. Magic: The Gathering Toolbox

If you play the uber-popular game Magic The Gathering, there’s now an official app just for you. The official app lets you track game states, search cards, build decks, and find local events in the Magic community. I’ve never played the game personally, but know lots of folks who do so I’m betting this is going to be a very popular app. You can get Wizard of the Coasts Magic: The Gathering Toolbox for free on Google Play.

3. Ultimate Special Fx

Ever wanted to spruce up your pictures with a missile or flying car? If so you may want to check out Ultimate Special Fx from Techcat mobile. The app allows you to take pictures and add effects that will turn your photo into a movie clip with just a few simple steps. There are some areas that could be improved, but it’s a cool concept and fun to play around with. If you want to add a little action to your pictures you can check out Ultimate Special Fx for free.

4. Woot Check

If you’ve heard of the greatness known as Woot, you obviously love getting great deals on all kinds of items. The Woot app ensures you’ll never miss another great deal with its easy to use interface, daily item notifications, and customizable preferences. It’s a good app to have on hand if you surf Woot, and you can pick up for free on Google Play.

5. Whiten Your Teeth

We aren’t sure if this one falls into the bullshit category or not, but we’re leaning towards it may actually work. Whiten Your Teeth is an app from Life Mobile that Whitens your teeth over the course of a month, just like they do with the fancy light in the dentist’s office. We’re not sure how it works, but we’re going with Sorcery as it’s the easiest to explain. It’s certainly an interesting concept, and it’s free to download if you want to give it a go.

6. Tabla

If you like musical apps there’s a cool new one from Rodrigo Kolb called Tabla. Tabla lets you play the drums on your phone with Arabian, Indian, and Latin percussion sounds. You’ll not only get 10 realistic drum sounds, but you’ll also get a few extra instruments like the gong, chimes, and gungru. Tabla works great on my captivate, and the multitouch is spot on as well. You can check out Tabla for free.

7. GlassBox Go Locker Theme

If you use GO LauncherEX you already know how cool and customizable the homescreen replacement is. You also know there are tons of funky themes available, and GlassBOX is one of the slickest ones we’ve seen in awhile. You must have GO LauncherEX installed, and if you do you can pick up GlassBox for free.

8. LINE Camera

LINE Camera makes your photos fun & attractive by using decorations and hilarious designs. You can choose from over 600 stamps, 100 frames, and even have the ability to design your own stamps and brushes. Everything you make is shared online, and most importantly LINE Camera is simple to use. You can pick up Naver’s LINE Filter for free on Google Play.

9. CrowdCall

CrowdCall is a new app that makes conference calls easy anywhere in the world. The app works by making an outgoing call to all participants which ensures that only the originator of the call is charged. You don’t need to have the app installed to participate (only the caller does) and it seems to work well although the call quality can be choppy at times.  If you want to give it a run you can pick checkout CrowdCall for free.

10. Textgram

Textgram is a new Android app from codeadore that lets you create beautiful “graffitis” to share with your friends on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. It’s very simple to use, as all you need to do is type a message and choose a style. You can share your textgram through all the usual methods; the app works great and it’s free to download.
