Top 10 New Android Apps of the Week – July 1, 2012

by On July 1, 2012

After a couple of weeks off we’re back again with another edition of our Top picks for the best New Android Games from the past week. This weeks selection helps you keep in shape, keep up to date, helps you draw, and even lets you play with a crude talking teddy bear. Without further ado, we proudly present Android-Apps.com’s Top 10 New Android apps of the Week…

1. Google Analytics

If you run a website, you’re definitely familiar with Google Analytics. This week Google finally released its official Analytics app that gives you real time stats, and keeps you up to date on what’s going on with your Analytics account. It’s a must have app if you run a site, and you can check it out for free on Google Play.

2. Flipboard

People have been waiting for this one, and now it’s finally her as the official Flipboard app for Android was released this week. Flipboard is a super-cool news reader app that makes reading the news fun as you flip your way through the stories that are important to you. It’s easy to use, looks great, and best of all it’s free! You can read more about Flipboard here or head on over to Google Play and see the awesomeness for yourself.

3. Markers

There are a lot of drawing apps out there, but none do it quite the way Markers by Daniel Sandler does. Markers is a simple to use pressure-sensitive drawing application that lets you unleash your creative juices whether you’ve got a stylus or not. It’s a very cool app, and I had a lot of fun doodling around with this one over the past week. You can check out Daniel Sandler’s Markers for free on Google Play.

4. Nike + Running

The Nike + Running app is one application I’ve been wanting to test all week, but have put it off due to the massive heat wave we got slammed with. The Nike + Running app maps and tracks your runs so you can get the motivation you need to meet your goals. I’ve got a pair of Nike + shox just waiting to test this app out, but not until it cools off lol. If you’re a runner or weekend warrior this apps for you and you can pick it up for free.

5. Talking Ted

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve seen promos for Seth Macfarlane’s new movie Ted. Ted is the story of a man and his Teddy Bear who happens to be a trash talking teddy that’s come to life thanks to a child’s wish. The app lets you interact with Ted a bit, and while I’m beyond burned out with Macfarlane’s repetitive humor… the app looks great. You can check out NBC Universal’s Talking Teddy for free.

6. Nexercise

Nexercise is a new way to stay in shape, play with your friends and earn rewards. It encourages you to work out and provides cool challenges to keep you interested, active, and most importantly motivated. I haven’t had a chance to check this one out yet, but I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. You can get the Nexercise Android app for free on Google Play.

7. Discovery News

The Discovery Channel has long been one of my favorite TV channels and if you’re a fan like me you can get your news on the go with the official Discovery News Android app. The app keeps you up to date on the latest breakthroughs in tech as well as all the interesting stories you see on Discoverynews.com. If you watch the channel, you’ll definitely wan the app. You can check out the Discovery News app for free on Google Play.

8. Wimbledon

If you’re a tennis fan, there’s little doubt you’ve been watching Wimbledon coverage this past week, and if you want to keep updated the official Wimbledon app is the only way to go. The app keeps you updated with live scores, results, and schedules with all the video previews and highlights you can handle. It’s a must have app for tennis fans and it’s totally free!

9. Flick Widgets

Flick Widgets is a new Android app from Wise Apps Development that puts a slew full of widgets at your disposal with just the flick of your wrist. You can flick left, right, up and down to reveal a useful widget without stopping what you’re doing to dig through the settings and apps. It’s a very handy app to have if you do a lot of multi-tasking and it’s free to download.

10. Plasma Tree LWP

Not much to say on this one except that it’s a very cool looking Live Wallpaper form the Go Wallpaper Dev Team. I’ve enjoyed this one for a few days now, and while I do wish there were more options, it still looks great on my phone. You can pick up the Plasma Tree LWP for free on Google Play.
