Tumblr was launched back in February of 2007 and it has seen its share of success and drawbacks. Tumblr is a microblogging and social networking service and website that as of March 2, 2013 had over 96.1 million blogs and more than 44.3 billion total posts. Due to the fast paced rate of development in the mobile device market Tumblr has decided to reinvent it’s app for Android.
This new version of Tumblr is designed to maximize the functionality of small screen mobile devices like our phones and its release today was greeted by excellent reviews. The redesign of the Tumblr app starts with the screen position of Post Anything. The Post Anything feature is a series of buttons that pop up from the lower right corner. By touching the Tumblr button and swiping upwards you open a series of buttons that give access to posting options.
Tumblr has a reputation for being the easiest way to post a variety of items and this new format for the posting options makes it that much easier. The new redesigned app will allow you to read and respond to messages, manage your Tumblr blogs, find and follow other blogs to read, and post Tweets much like before but with a more intuitive look and feel. This is a great move for Tumblr by way of grabbing a little attention in a time where Facebook is intent on staying in the social networking spotlight.
