Many fans of the original Droid and Droid 2 smartphones are anxiously awaiting the deployment of the upcoming Droid 3 — and for good reason. Rumored specs indicate the third iteration of the Droid series will launch with a 4 inch qHD display, a dual-core OMAP processor, a front and rear facing camera, as well as a revamped 5 row slider QWERTY keyboard. However, according to a leaked screenshot from an internal Verizon Wireless inventory listing shows that the Droid 3 will launch with Android 2.2. Many would expect the flagship device for Verizon Wireless to launch with Gingerbread instead of the Froyo. There is a chance that Verizon will roll out a software update after the launch bringing the Droid 3 to Gingerbread, but the screenshot you see above does not reveal whether that is the case. Given the fact that the Droid X2 recently launched with Froyo, the Droid 3 has a good chance of launching with it as well, but hopefully Verizon will get their act together and launch it with Gingerbread.
