Facebook Gives its Android App a Much Needed Update

It’s been a long time coming but it’s definitely worth the wait. Finally, Facebook updated its Android app bringing in some nice features that makes it at par with the iPhone Facebook app.  Ok, I must admit that whenever I’m on the go, I use my iPhone Facebook app more than I used the one on my Google Nexus One. Hopefully, this update would make me and perhaps all of you as well to use the Facebook for Android app more.

So, the updated Facebook Android app now lets you playback video, view and RSVP for events, and  respond to friend requests without leaving the  app. But the biggest change happened in the app’s home page.  Menu icons are now smaller and does not occupy the full screen of your Android phone. The new home page also now has a draggable notifications drawer, a photo reel which displays photos and videos of your Facebook friends, and the post an update icon located at the top right corner of your Android phone. Beside this icon is the search icon which lets you quickly search for your Facebook friend.

Overall, the updated Facebook Android app ups the ante a bit and will make you wonder whether the iPhone version of the app will also get the same updates. The addition of the photo and video reel puts the iPhone version a bit on the downside although the Android app still does not have the chat capability which the iPhone version has. But who knows, this might just be happening in due time?

To get the updated Facebook app for Android, well you know the drill right? Have fun!
