Gem Miner – Android Game Review

Overview

If you’ve owned an Android device for awhile chances are you’ve heard of or played a game called Gem Miner. If you don’t fall into either of those categories, you don’t know what you’re missing. Gem Miner is a great game from Pysm Mobile that’s bound to keep you busy for quite some time. You’ll dig, dig, and dig some more as you mine deep into the depths of the earth looking for precious gems and other artifacts.

Gameplay

If you haven’t figured it out by now this games all about mining, and mining involves digging. Movement is simple as you just touch left/right/up/down on the screen to move in that direction. To dig you just need to touch a square that’s above, below or beside you, and your little miner will go right to work. Every swing your miner makes will take some stamina away and every gem he finds gets added to his inventory. You’ll definitely want to pay close attention to your stamina which you’ll lose by swinging your pick or moving around.  If your stamina runs out you won’t be able to move and will die losing all your loot. You can also die by falling to far which happens a lot if you’re not careful where you dig. Once your bag is full of gems, you’ll want to return to the surface to sell your haul, buy equipment, and replenish your stamina.

Features

Gem Miner has 2 main modes of play with Freeplay and Regular mode which has 4 different levels of difficulty. There is quite a bit of gear available to help you out in Gem Miner like lanterns, jackhammers, lifts, beacons, and saws. There is pretty much a solution in the store to anything that might cause you trouble in the mines. Dig down too deep or afraid of getting crushed by a stone? Then buy some ladders or wooden supports and you’ll be set. Tired of losing half your energy getting to the “sweet spot” in the mine? If so, a lift or sleeping bag will do the trick. There are many implements that can help you out, but they cost cash so you’re going to have to stay busy in the mines.

Verdict

Honestly, there’s nothing bad I can say about Gem Miner or its paid counterpart Gem Miner: Dig Deeper. The graphics are perfect and the gameplay is quick and simple. There is quite a bit of depth to the game as well, as each Mine is different so you’re not going to play the same mine twice. The only thing I would like to see in the future is the ability to mine different locations. If you could mine on Mars, in a Diamond Mine or under an Aztec Temple that would be pretty damned cool. Either way, it’s a great game and one that I have on my phone at all times. You can check out the free (limited) version called Gem Miner or pay a paltry $2.07 for the full version dubbed Gem Miner: Dig Deeper. Great game, and I highly recommend you check it out, if you haven’t already.
