Snowboarding is one of those sports that I’d love to try, but never will due to the fact that I don’t like broken bones. Thanks to folks at Com2uS I can now get a little snowboarding action on my phone with their new Android game SummitX Snowboarding.
Controlling your snowboarder is fairly easy; you have a slider on the left and right sides of the screen that lets you control your character and anytime you hit a jump you’re given on-screen grab/trick buttons. You really haul ass going down the mountain so it can be a little tricky to get the timing down at first, but it’s a blast once you get the hang of it. Your basic goal is to make it to the finish line as quick as possible while scoring points by hitting the blue gates and with tricks.
There are two things you’ll need to progress in the game, and those things are medals and cold cash. All the runs are unlocked with Medal Points; a Gold medal is three medal points, silver is two, and the bronze is one. Cold Cash is used to purchase boards and tricks in the shops, and is earned based on your score during the runs. You can also purchase Cold Cash via the in-app setup; the prices are very reasonable in as well which is nice to see. As for the board shop, they have 6 different boards and a slew of different graphics to use on them. The trick shop has around 30 tricks including Suitcase, Japan Air, Crail, and Canadian Bacon.
If you’re into snowboarding or sports games SummitX Snowboarding is a good one to get as the gameplay is top-notch and the graphics are easy on the eyes. The controls were difficult for me to get the hang of at first, but now that I’m used to them they’re great. The free version of the game gives you the first mountain and some runs to try while the full version of SummitX Snowboarding boasts 36 runs on 6 different mountains for $4.99.
