Quick Review – Skater Boy for Android

RunnerGames recently took the Android market by storm with a little game called Ceramic Destroyer and now they’re back with another Android game called Skater Boy. The two games couldn’t be any more different, but they still manage to have one thing in common which is the fact that they’re both a blast to play.

Skater Boy is a side-scrolling skating game that lets you jump and perform various tricks while you take on its 90 tricky levels. It’s also a simple game to play as there are no joysticks; you only have two buttons one for acceleration and one for jumping. As you skate through the levels you’ll want to pick up stars, catch air and most importantly, land tricks. If you fall you lose a life and while the game may seem easy at first it does get tricky as the levels progress. Speaking of levels, Skater Boy has 90 of them set across 3 different terrains and more levels are supposed to be on the way. The levels are laid out angry birds style and each one gives you a set amount of lives and a certain amount of trophies to collect. There are achievements for each level and you can get them by collecting all the trophies, not falling, and getting the high score. There are no real extras to speak of, but Skater Boys 90 levels is certainly nothing to sneeze at and more than enough to keep you busy for awhile.

Skater Boy is a great quick-play game that casual gamers or fans of skating games should enjoy. The graphics and way you play may be simple, but the game does get tricky and is pretty addictive. RunnerGames looks to have added another hit to their catalog, and I’m curious to see what they come up with next. You can pick up RunnerGames Skater Boy in the Android market for free.
