Who doesn’t love a Panda? They’re cute, they love bamboo, and they’re great at destroying Evil Atoms when they run amok. Nano Panda is a cute physics game from UNIT9.Apps that lets you launch Pandas towards the Evil Atoms who have infiltrated the science lab. The twist in this fun little game is that the Pandas are magnetic! I played both versions of this game for a few frustratingly fun hours, and here’s what I thought…
The controls may be a little tricky at first, but they aren’t that hard to figure out. You’ll shoot your little Pandas from a cannon towards the Evil Atoms. Your pandas are “Magnetic” so when you shoot two of the little guys, they will use their powers of magnetism to help you hit the Atoms. There can be one, or several Atoms to hit on each level and once you hit them all, you get to move on. As the levels progress, the difficulty will increase, and you’ll encounter moving platforms along with other obstacles.
There are three stars on each level, and while you don’t have to collect them to move to the next level, you will need them to unlock the next world. In the free version of Nano Pandas you’ll get one world called, “Enter the Atom” that has 16 levels. The full version has a total of 4 themed worlds, with 64 levels in all. They also have the OpenFeint Achievement system, which lets you compare your scores and achievements with your friends online.
It’s a very easy game to pick up and play, and the HD graphics looked great on my Captivate. It’s also a lot of fun, and it can get pretty difficult which I liked. I can blow right through Angry Birds, but I can’t do that with Nano Panda which is a good thing in my opinion. Besides being fun, I also really enjoyed the soundtrack; it fits the tone of the game perfectly. Overall, it’s a fun game and definitely worth a look. You get a nice preview with the free version, but the paid version is well worth the .96 cents.
