About a week ago, Verizon was supposed to start updating Motorola Droid devices with Android 2.2, but for some reason, Big Red stopped the update indefinitely. While it was supposed that the build would be modified and changed, it has not. Build FRG01B is the same as it has always been and if you still haven’t received the update, you can check your system updates to see if it is available.
Well, we knew Verizon Wireless had to announce the Droid 2 sometime early this week to match up with the rumored release date of August 12. Earlier this morning, Verizon Wireless finally announced the much talked about Motorola Droid 2. Since we already heard so many rumors regarding the Droid 2, the press release didn’t really announce anything new about the phone, rather confirm suspicions.

Best Buy first revealed the expected launch date of the Motorola Droid 2 when an internal document said it would ship August 12. Now, a local Best Buy pinned a price tag on a dummy Moto Droid 2 which is probably the real deal when it launches.
For Android smartphone owners, you know how much it sucks having to wait for Android 2.2 to be available on your device. For the rest of us, waiting for Android 2.2 is kind of like waiting for Christmas — you know it’s going to come eventually, but you still can’t wait for it.
