Verizon Galaxy Nexus no longer supports Google Wallet – again

Back last month Google put in a few new updates to their Google Wallet app. First up was the ability to support all debit and credit cards – a welcome addition. Then the Android app became supported on the Verizon Galaxy Nexus officially. For months the Google Wallet Android app had only been supported on Sprint devices and those with a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon had to side load the app by rooting or putting a custom ROM on their device.

Verizon Galaxy Nexus added to Google Wallet compatible handsets

A couple of days ago Google updated their Wallet app to include support for Mastercard, Visa, American Express and Discover cards, where as previously only pre-paid debit cards and Citibank Mastercard were supported.

Google Play Store now selling the Galaxy Nexus unlocked for $399

It’s been awhile since Google sold phones themselves, but it’s happening again as they are now selling unlocked HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus phones through the Google Play store. You can pick up this unlocked Google phone for only $399 if you live in the US, but plans are to expand to other markets in the near future.
