Thanksgiving has come and gone, but Black Friday’s here and so are the deals. Google Play decided to get in on the action with the Google Play Cyber Weekend Sale which has a bit of everything from movies and music to books and games.
Movies
We’re going to take a look at the movie section of the sale first which includes quite a few movies for $2.99. You can pick up Jaws, Ray, Dr. Suess’How the Grinch stole Christmas, Big Lebowski, Pride & Prejudice, Scarface, Field of Dreams, Fletch, Changeling, Serenity, Out of Africa, Carlito’s Way, The Jackal, Riddick, Les Misreables, Fire Proof, and Faith like Potatoes.
Books
I’m old school and not one to read books that aren’t made out of paper (sorry trees), but there seem to be some good deals if you enjoy mobile books. Some of the cheaper titles I noticed were The Hobbit, Essays in Science, Endless Love, The Great Santini, When We Were the Kennedys, and TekWar. There are close to 50 books in the sale, and the prices range from 3-10 dollars.
TV Shows
The TV section of the sale features 6 TV shows with Alphas, Eureka, Warehouse 13, House, Heroes, and Friday Night Lights. The prices vary on these as well and can run anywhere from $9.99 which is a deal to $24.99 which isn’t a deal at all to be honest. I love Friday Night Lights, but the TV end of the sale kind of sucks to be honest.
Albums
I’ve always enjoyed picking up some cheap albums during Google Play’s music sales and there are some great ones to grab this go round’. There are far too many to go through, but there are around 60 albums in all that range from $2.99 to $7.99. Some of the standouts for me were Frank Ocean, Maroon 5, 2chains, Blake Shelton, and The Darkness. Good selection and some great prices depending on what you’re looking for.
Games
Last up we’ve got the games. There are no games on sale for a buck… only free games with sales on their In-app purchases or in-game upgrades, definitely nothing to write home about. Some of the games listed are Kingdoms & Lords, Pet Hotel, Pocket Legends, Eternity Warriors 2, Hellfire, and the Hobbit.
Google Play’s Cyber Weekend Sale is a bit of a mixed bag, but there are some great deals depending on what you’re looking for. I definitely plan on picking up some movies and albums, but am beyond disappointed with the games and the exclusion of apps. The prices are good through the weekend, and if you’re ready to pick up some digital deals you can hit the link below and head on over to Google Play.
