Android OS continues to be the most important operating system for smartphones in the US with 52% market share in the first quarter of 2013, according to the latest numbers released by comScore. Android is still reigning, even if the percents dropped a little bit from December of 2012, when the market share for Android OS was slightly above 53.4 %, yet the difference is minimal.
Google began testing its new mobile Android OS code named ‘Key Lime’ in fall of 2012. Now it seems that the Google rumor mill is suggesting that Key Lime will be released sometime in late May of 2013. Key Lime was initially called Android 4.2, with only some minor upgrades to the current Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, but now Key Lime is being called Android 5.0 which leads you to think that it might be more than just a few minor changes.
Just few days ago we were pondering on how the next Google and Motorola phone would look like. Today we have the Motorola XT912A; a phone which we suspect will not be the fabled Motorola X Phone. The leak comes from a Vietnamese site named Tinhte which immediately states that the smartphone is not the aforementioned Google X Phone, which is quite clear from the screen size.
This year apart from the Samsung Galaxy S IV, the Google’s Motorola X Phone is getting a lot of attention. The phone is yet to be confirmed, yet to be announced and still the rumors are getting solid day by day.
Well this is really unorthodox, usually when you acquire a company (say Motorola), you try your level best to promote whatever they make. This is however not the case for Google, as the company’s Chief Financial Officer recently told a room full of analysts seated at the Morgan Stanley Technology Conference that the some of the upcoming Motorola phone are just going to be OK.
