If you’re in to Android Gaming, today is a good day. Nvidia has finally dropped some info on SHIELD, the product formerly known as Project Shield. The new gaming device is headed your way soon, and it’s coming out in what’s shaping up to be the best month for gamers in recent history.
Last week Nvidia did some benchmarks regarding its latest SoC and they blew every one out of the water. We felt that Qualcomm may be a bit shaken. The Tegra 4 is one hell of a fast chip, and it’s shaping up to provide some amazing visuals too.
While the world was all excited about what HTC had in store yesterday, NVIDIA was making its very own announcements. The graphic centric company announced that it will be launching the Tegra 4i, a smaller and LTE enabled chip for mobile phones. The good chaps at the company are also considerate of manufacturer’s pain and are offering the NVIDIA Phoenix, a reference phone which will make the lives of OEMs a little easier.
After NVIDIA announced its latest and mightiest Tegra 4 chip, we were worried that Qualcomm might lag behind this year. But Qualcomm was also hiding a microscopic ace up its sleeve and made us excited about its new line of mobile processing chips. Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 800 at CES yesterday and it looks to pack a powerful punch.
NVIDIA is looking to sweep the show this year around with its exciting and intriguing announcements at CES 2013. NVIDIA took the stage and quite frankly it droned on a little until we saw the company reveal its latest mobile chip, the Tegra 4.
One of the more interesting things to come out of CES this morning is NVIDIA’s Project Shield. While it sounds like some sort of defensive project from Darpa, it’s actually NVIDIA’s attempt to put its stamp on mobile gaming and yes that’s Skyrim running on the screen in the picture.
