Henry was born in the tower above the gatehouse of Monmouth Castle and for that reason called Henry of Monmouth. Crowned on 9 April 1413 at Westminster Abbey, he became King of England, dying in Paris, apparently from dysentery which he had contracted during the siege of Meaux.
