The Monofer Dosing Calculator allows health care professionals to easily calculate and identify the successful strategy for treating your patients’ iron deficiency anaemia in one visit with Monofer. The clinical objective when treating iron deficiency anaemia is expressed as the target Hb increase, that is the difference between the target Hb level and a patient’s actual Hb levelThe dosing calculator allows you to set the units for Hb that are being used in your clinical practice (g/dl, g/l or mmol/l).The second important parameter for calculating a patient’s iron need is ideal body weight (kg). Ideal body weight is also used to assess the iron dose/ideal body weight (mg/kg) ratio. With its widest accepted dose range and no test dose requirement, Monofer allows dosing of up to 20 mg iron/kg in maximum one hour – and thus the possibility to offer high dose iron for more patients. Importantly, these treatment options apply to Monofer only and you should therefore carefully study the SPC if considering other IV iron treatment. The iron need and recommended iron dose is calculated using the Ganzoni formula.Notice that the Ganzoni equation assumes the need for 500 mg iron for iron stores for pati.nts weighing ? 35 kg.Apply special clinical conditionsThe dosing calculator also allows health care professionals to apply special clinical restrictions expressed as either mg iron/kg or mg iron. Illustrating the difference between possible clinical restrictions compared to high dose iron in one visit, it may help assess the number of your patients that can achieve full iron correction with Monofer.Important advisory for version 1.1.A few Android handsets might have issues running the Monofer Dosing Calculator app correctly. The issues are usually related to handsets which in general have trouble executing/bugs in webkit based applications. We have tested on most major platforms and all have passed through the test succesfully except HTC handsets (not Nexus) which are not currently supported. Make sure to test the app on your device prior to use.
